When you’re in your 20s, there are lots of late nights, not to mention sun, pollution and what not to wreck havoc on your skin. So here are my tips on the best skin care routine for your 20s to keep your skin young and fresh always:
Pamper Your Eyes
Your eyes are the window to your soul. When you’re tired, your eyes can be a dead giveaway. So pamper those eyes. Wash your face. Use eye drops. Lather on some rich textured eye cream, and then take care of the rest of your face and body to look great.
Block That Sun
Use a sun-block lotion of SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15 whenever you go out. Apply the lotion 20-25 minutes before you leave for optimal coverage. And if you’re lazy like me, buy a moisturiser which already has SPF included in it.
Try using anti-aging products. You can visit the beauty salon for anti-aging facials. You can also buy anti-aging facial masks you can apply at home. Plus the evergreen home remedies like eating more antioxidants (fruits mostly) and working out.
Scrub Off Every Night
20s are the rush hour time of our lives. There can be a lot of boozy nights, smoky nights and maybe some I-don’t-remember-what-happened nights. Whatever the night is, wash the day’s gunk off your face before you sleep. Use a wipe, or face wash, or just dip a cotton ball in oil to scrub off your face and call it a night.
No Dermatologist’s Quick Fixes
I’ve seen that skin issues get aggravated with medical intervention, just because the dermatologist experimented on your skin to figure out the level of dosage you required. Stay away from dermatologists until you’re sure there is no other non-medical alternative.
Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate
Use a body scrub every alternate day if you are a outdoorsy kinda person. If not, a weekly scrub will be fine. Don’t know what scrub to buy? Just mix sugar (the crystal type) with your favourite shower gel and get scrubbing!
Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise
Whenever water rinses your skin, you need to moisturise. Whenever you feel your skin tighten up, you need to moisturise. If you feel your skin tightens up too often, change your moisturiser. Just keep on moisturising. Keep the skin hydrated to boast of radiant skin.
Best Skin Care Routine For Your 20s
Daytime: Wash your face with water and face wash (according to your skin type). Your face should feel supple, not tight. Mist your face with a toner, and lather on your moisturising (+SPF) lotion. Then apply makeup. Use a SPF body lotion for the rest of your body, especially hands, behind the ears, back of the neck and other neglected areas.
Nighttime: Scrub off your face, moisturise and if you feel any issues on your skin, rub a few drops of coconut oil gently in those areas. If your face feels too oily, skip the moisturiser but lather on the coconut oil. Let sit for 3-5 minutes and then rinse off. Lather on body lotion all over till you feel every pore of your body is dripping with lotion. Then sleep.
Stay away from cigarettes, drugs, booze and late nights, as much as you can. Stick to plant products. Try to buy products that have less usage of “acid” ingredients. Say No! to chemical peels.
The beauty in your 20s is the fact that cells regenerate much faster than when you’re in your later years. Maybe not like Wolverine, but if you have healthy skin, all you need can be a good night’s sleep to look great when you wake up. For the rest of the day, pay attention to my tips on the best skin care routine for your 20s above.
