Who doesn’t want younger-looking skin, right?
Your skin is naturally firm and smooth. Lipids found naturally in your skin’s surface layer maintain the integrity of the skin’s barrier layer. They hold the skin cells together. When this barrier is intact, skin looks smooth and glowing. But age, stress, facial tension and environmental exposure like sun, pollution, etc. lower the natural ability of your skin’s collagen and elastin to keep your skin plumped up and full of moisture. Hence, this leads to issues like dryness, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, loss of firmness, etc. And your skin starts looking “old”.
So to achieve and maintain younger looking skin, here are some simple basic skincare routines. These are guaranteed to work in sync with your skin’s natural abilities and give you more healthy and glowing skin.
There is no way to reverse the process and effects of aging. But we can try to delay the process as well as replace what your skin has lost over time. With the help of simple skincare routines. The key is to add such products to your skincare routine. These products will boost your skin’s natural collagen, elastin and protein to make you look younger.
The ingredients present in your skincare products should act in harmony with skin’s natural defenses to protect against environmental aggressors. Your skin will start looking brighter, translucent and more radiant. The right skincare products in the right skincare routine will allow your skin to achieve a brighter, younger looking skin every day.
Let’s achieve younger-looking skin..
The first step is to choose products according to your skin type and condition.
Find out your skin type.
To find out your skin condition, follow these steps:
(1) After a good night of sleep, wake up and wash your face with a soap-free face wash and lukewarm water. Pat dry your face with a soft towel.
(2) Stand in natural light and look closely at your skin – face and neck.
(3) Note down what you see – fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, uneven skin tone, pores, etc.
Next step is to adopt the following skincare plan:
Morning Plan – Cleanse, Tone, Treat, Moisturize and Protect.
Cleanse – Remove makeup, impurities, greasiness, dirt and dead skin cells with a mild soap-free cleanser (lotion/cream/foam) specific to your skin type.
Tone – Re-balance your skin’s pH level and refine the surface of your skin to allow better penetration of skincare products with a alcohol-free toner specific to your skin condition(s) and skin type.
Treat – Add special nutrients to your skin to address your specific concerns (face, eye, lip) with a serum/essence specific to your skin condition(s).
Moisturize – Supply all the nutrients and moisture your skin needs with a moisturizer specific to your skin type. Remember to use separate moisturizing creams/lotions for face and body, respectively.
Protect – Shield your skin from UVA/UVB rays, dehydration and free radicals with a sun screen cream/lotion of SPF 30 or more. Pay special attention to your eyes and neck – the signs of aging are more prominent in these areas.
Evening Plan – Cleanse, Tone, Treat and Moisturize.
Cleanse – Remove makeup with an oil-based cleanser. Next, use a mild soap-free cleanser (lotion/cream/foam) specific to your skin type at night to remove makeup, dirt, etc.
Tone – Use a toner to re-balance your skin’s pH level. This will refine the surface of your skin to allow better penetration of skincare products with an alcohol-free toner specific to your skin condition(s) and skin type.
Treat – Add special nutrients to repair and rejuvenate your skin with a serum/essence specific to your skin condition(s).
Moisturize – Repair and moisturize your skin with a night time repair moisturizer specific to your skin type. Your body works to repair itself naturally, while you are sleeping. So using a night time repair moisturizer boosts your own skin’s natural ability to repair and rejuvenate every night. And similar to the morning plan, remember to use separate moisturizing creams/lotions for face and body, respectively.
Body moisturizers are more heavy and do not really target to resolve the issues your facial skin might be having.
Now, over to you..
The above mentioned plans are for your basic skincare to achieve and maintain younger looking skin. You also need to follow some special care for your skin to take care of your skin issues and/or to maintain the good health of your skin.
