Stress is a part of life. However, too much stress for too long is bad for us. While stress is useful in turning in your project on time, too much stress can harm your system. Here are my 4 ways to beat stress.

Clear Some Time For Yourself Everyday

It can be 10 minutes or half an hour. But during this time, you have to be alone and ideally, cut off from the world. So no communication device or anything.

Just take this time to look at yourself, look into your own soul. do some soul searching. Forget everything else, try to sit on the floor and find your center.

Meditate, or simply sit in silence to calm your mind. If you can’t calm your mind, put your hands over your ears, close your eyes and recite “Om!”

Indulge Yourself

From time to time, get into this habit of indulging yourself.

Buy that swanky handbag you’ve been lusting for more than a decade. Play that game. Watch that movie. Go to a concert. Or simply read a book.

Divert your mind to pleasant experiences and you’re more likely to enjoy life, rather than stress about what’s bad with your life.

Eat Healthy

I can’t emphasise enough on the importance of eating healthy and working out regularly. Even if you are not trying to lose weight, you have to stick to a healthy balanced diet and working out regularly.

It’s the key to enjoying a good life, and of course to beat stress.

I follow a 10,000 steps a day rule, and avoid junk food as much as I can. And that has made a great difference in my health.

Talk to Someone

Don’t face your anxiety and mood swings all alone. Speak to your spouse, family member, relatives and so on to ask for help.

Your friend can hold up a mirror to your stress factors, and ultimately make you realise if and when those factors are realistic, and maybe shed some light on how you can tackle them.

If life gets too overwhelming, it’s best to seek professional help.

I suffered from acute postpartum depression after my daughter was born. The years 2014 and 2015 are still a blur for me. My husband and my parents supported me through this difficult period. But finally I had to get professional help. After medical intervention, I was finally able to get a clear perspective of my life. It made me live life again.

Over to you..

Stress is good. It keeps us moving. But too much stress over a long period of time is not healthy for you as well as your loved ones. So if you don’t seem to find any relief with my 4 ways to best stress, consider visiting your family doctor for an appointment. Stay happy!
