What Not To Do At Sales

Sales are precious. The prospect of buying a high-priced product at a fraction of its original price attracts you so much that you’re more likely to stop thinking and simply splurge on the sale goodies. So I’ve come up with 2 simple things NOT to do at sales, whether the sale is at Gucci, or Mango, or your neighborhood departmental store.

Look at the quality, NOT the price

Yes, the sale item you’re clutching dearly to your heart is from Gucci, but do you really like it? Or are you simply liking the price? Don’t make such a rookie mistake.

Any shopper experienced in sales, or a personal shopper, can often tell you the price doesn’t matter. It’s the quality you should be looking for.

Are you comfortable with the fabric? How will you use it? Is there anything existing in your wardrobe you can use it with? Do you have to buy something separate to make full use of it?

These are some of the questions you need to ask yourself before you purchase anything at a sale, or in general shopping.

For instance, cashmere sweaters are highly revered by people worldwide. But most people can’t wear cashmere because it can cause allergies on sensitive skin. Within minutes, your skin can turn red, and sometimes the rash actually spreads to the rest of your body. So that’s probably something you shouldn’t buy just because the price seems right.

Is it YOUR style?

Do you know your personal style? If you’re still unsure of it, you might have trouble picking and planning your outfits for any occasion. And no matter how much you shop, you’ll always have “I’ve got nothing to wear” feeling. So first find your personal style.

When you see any item of interest at the sale, first determine if it fits your personal style. Buy something only when it helps your personal style.

For instance, if you have a subdued, under-the-rader, kind of personal style, a tomato red handbag will definitely NOT suit your style. You’ll probably buy it and stuff it in the deepest corner of your closet. So what’s the point? You’re not going to use it and you’ve lost a considerable amount of money paying for something you won’t ever use!
