Everyone has a bad hair day. It’s no biggie. But few weeks back, I was having more than my usual share of bad hair days. It’s a vicious circle, really – I was losing hair because of some XYZ reason, I was getting stressed out about it and the more stressed I felt, the more hair fall I had. Finally I decided to take matters into my own hands. After all, I deal with clients at Anks Image with hair care issues most of the time. All I had to do was compile the remedies I had suggested my clients and pick out the most successful ones. Now two months later, I am happy with my hair status and would like to share the top 5 hair fall remedies, mentioned in this feature, my clients and I can vouch for.
Before utilizing the hair fall remedies, the first step is to figure out the cause of hair loss. It’s not an easy task. You have to take an honest look at your lifestyle. Due to a busy work schedule, I had developed some bad eating and sleeping habits. Since I was not on any medication that could prompt any hair loss, I believe my irregular eating and sleeping patterns were the only reason behind my hair fall. Stress has always been a part of my lifestyle, so stress was also a reason, but it was a reason I could manage. As an extra precaution, I used filtered water to wash my hair for a week. When that also didn’t yield any good results, I decided to make some changes to my lifestyle. Small and gradual changes to my eating and sleeping habits did decrease my hair fall. The next step was to restore what my hair had lost.
My Top 5 hair fall remedies are stated below, organized into a routine to completely reverse the effects of hair loss:
Remedy No. 1
Mash a ripe banana with a few drops of pure almond oil and massage into hair. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with plain soda water. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Restores damaged hair.
Mix few drops of pure almond oil and castor oil. Warm gently. Massage into scalp and hair. Leave for at least 1 hour. Shampoo and condition as usual. Also, use a big toothed comb to brush your hair. It is always better to air dry your hair and then brush it. If using a hair dryer, remember not to dry it off completely.
Remedy No. 2
Soak 1/2 cup fenugreek (methi) seeds overnight. Grind the seeds with 2 tablespoons of water to form a thick paste. Massage into scalp and hair. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Tackles dandruff and itchy scalp issues.
As stated above
Remedy No. 3
Mix 4 tablespoons of olive oil with 2 eggs. Massage into scalp and hair. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Intense hair conditioning.
As stated above
Remedy No. 4
Mix few drops of orange juice, water, 1 tablespoon of honey and 3-4 drops of sandalwood oil. Apply the mixture to your hair (not scalp) AFTER you have shampooed your hair. Rinse. No need for conditioner.
Adds shine to your hair.
As stated above
Remedy No 5
Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Massage into hair (not scalp). Leave for 20-30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo. No need for conditioner.
Makes your hair soft and bouncy.
As stated above
Repeat from Week 1 thru Week 10 until you are satisfied with the results. You can always mix and match these 5 hair fall remedies to suit your needs. To achieve and maintain the nutritional balance of your hair, it’s better to use these remedies consecutively as shown above instead of repeating a single remedy. Once you have achieved the former glory of your hair, remember to use only one remedy per month.
A Word of Caution for Those Who Have Oily Hair:
Castor oil is very sticky and very difficult to wash out of hair. So if you have oily hair, use castor oil sparingly or none at all. People with oily hair tend not to use hair conditioners at all because they don’t want the conditioner to make their hair look more oily. What people don’t realize is that hair is hardly ever oily, it’s the scalp that is oily and mostly the hair roots get oily due to the oily scalp. Even if you have an oily scalp, chances are that you might have dry hair. So do not give up the conditioner. Use it sparingly in your hair, away from the scalp and roots of your hair.
If you are not seeing any results by Week 10, or your condition has worsened, it’s time to visit a dermatologist. At this stage, only your dermatologist can determine the cause of your hair loss and prescribe medicines to stop it. Once you have a control on your hair fall issues and with your doctor’s approval, you can start on these remedies to get beautiful hair.
Bottom line is follow a healthy lifestyle and these Top 5 hair fall remedies and you will be able to prevent any hair loss and maintain a healthy mane always.
