Healthy Eating – Top 7 Power Foods

,

health and wellnessFood is one of our basic necessities. Some eat to live. Some live to eat. However, for a healthy you, add my top 7 power foods to your diet to nurture your body while enriching your mind and soul.

To get started, here is the list of 7 power foods you absolutely need in your diet regularly..

1. Almonds

Soak 10-15 pieces in water overnight and eat them in the morning after. Or simply grab a handful when you are feeling low.

2. Yogurt

Try the plain ones because then you can jazz it up with your own dressing – some nuts, dried fruits, fresh fruits, even a drizzle of dark chocolate.

3. Eggs

Nothing gives me more energy to run after my 1-year-old all day long as hard boiled eggs at breakfast, with just a dash of salt and pepper.

4. Trail Mix

When I was living in New York, I used to carry trail mixes in my bag to snack on during the day. I hardly find any here in India, so I make my own. Just mix some Cheerios (or any other iron-fortified breakfast cereal) with dried fruits and roasted salty nuts. Yummy.

5. Orange Juice

OJ fights fatigue. Drink a glass every morning and feel energized all day long.

6. Watermelon

Like OJ, watermelon fights fatigue and hydrates you, literally refreshing you to go through the rest of the day.

7. Peanut Butter

Only 1 tablespoon a day of peanut butter will maintain your energy throughout the day. Spread it on a slice of apple for a blissful experience.

So these are my power foods. Some expected, some not so much. Eat them as snacks or meals. What about you? What are your power foods? Tell me!
